For decades, successive governments in India have disregarded the legitimate aspirations of the Sikh community—failing to address vital concerns such as justice for 1984, the protection of Punjabi language and culture, and the broader demand for self-determination. This persistent neglect has led many Sikhs around the globe to question whether we can truly safeguard our identity and rights within the current Indian political structure.

As a member of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), I stand firmly in support of Khalistan—a vision of a sovereign homeland where Sikhs and all people can thrive in dignity and freedom, unencumbered by political oppression. This call arises out of a deep desire to preserve our heritage, protect our values, and secure a just future for generations to come.

This referendum is an important moment for the global Sikh community to voice our aspirations peacefully, democratically, and in line with fundamental principles of human rights and self-determination.

Why We Believe in Khalistan

1. Historical Injustices

From the anti-Sikh violence of 1984 to ongoing marginalization, the Indian state has repeatedly failed to deliver justice and uphold the rights of its Sikh citizens. We demand accountability and a fair process to address these long-standing grievances.

2. Cultural and Linguistic Preservation

Punjab’s language, traditions, and agriculture-based economy deserve robust support and recognition. Central policies have frequently sidelined these priorities, threatening to erode the Punjabi way of life.

3. Democratic Principles

We believe in the fundamental right to self-determination, a principle recognized by international covenants. If India truly respects democratic values, it should allow free and fair referendums and open dialogue on the question of a separate Sikh state.

4. Peaceful Advocacy

Our movement is rooted in peaceful means and legitimate discourse. We reject violence and extremism. Instead, we seek transparent, reasoned debate and a fair democratic process to resolve our concerns.

Our Call to the Indian Government

Stop Silencing Critics: End the suppression of Sikh activists and voices critical of the government.

Deliver Justice: Provide impartial investigations and fair legal proceedings for past atrocities.

Engage in Dialogue: Meet with Sikh leadership and community representatives to address regional, cultural, and economic demands in a constructive, respectful manner.

Respect Self-Determination: Uphold the right of all communities to freely express and vote on their political future without fear of persecution.

Looking Ahead

We envision Khalistan as a beacon of human rights, justice, and prosperity—where individuals live free from coercive politics. By championing our cultural identity and building global alliances, we aim to secure a brighter future for Punjabis both within India and throughout the diaspora.

I call upon all Sikhs, and anyone who believes in the principles of justice and liberty, to join us—participate in the Khalistan Referendum on March 23 in Los Angeles, and amplify this struggle for self-determination. Our quest is for lasting peace, cultural preservation, and a world that recognizes the undeniable right of Sikhs to shape their own destiny.

Together, let us stand united for a just cause and take a meaningful step toward the realization of Khalistan
