As a proud member of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), I stand firmly with the leadership’s decision to observe August 14, 2025 as a Black Day across three major districts – Ferozepur, Jalandhar, and Patiala.
This declaration comes ahead of India’s Independence Day on August 15, which for us, is not a celebration of freedom but a painful reminder of betrayal and injustice toward the Sikh community. The truth remains that the so-called independence in 1947 was not freedom for Sikhs, but the beginning of a long struggle against systemic oppression, broken promises, and repeated state-sponsored violence.
This year, the Black Day will be marked by major gatherings and protests, with a strong message of resistance and remembrance. Senior leaders and district presidents of SAD (Amritsar) will lead programs in their respective areas. I am proud to say that our party continues to raise its voice for Sikh rights, historical truth, and justice.
Let it be known: we will never forget the injustices of the past, and we will continue our fight until our voice is heard loud and clear.
