The President of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) stated that the Aryan-created, caste-based system described in the Manusmriti, which divided society into four varnas (castes), is racist and disgraceful.
He said that this mindset still affects India’s governance and social structure today. The Akali Dal (Amritsar) has always opposed such discrimination and continues to raise its voice for social justice and equality.
He explained that this system was designed to keep certain communities oppressed and to deny them education, representation, and basic human rights. Because of this same mentality, people belonging to lower castes still face social injustice, poverty, and backwardness.
The Akali Dal (Amritsar) leader emphasized that true democracy and justice can never exist in a country until every citizen — regardless of caste, faith, or background — is treated equally.
He added that the party will continue to fight against caste-based oppression and will raise awareness among the people of Punjab and across India. He also noted that for 33 years, Akali Dal (Amritsar) has been working for justice, equality, and the upliftment of all communities.
Finally, he said that if India truly wants to progress, it must end caste divisions, follow the teachings of the Gurus, and establish a system based on equality and humanity.
